Distillate Cartridge

Distillate is cannabis oil refined until almost everything except the cannabinoids has been removed.

The base oil in every Northdrop distillate cartridge comes from a triple distilled run and tested as one batch.

Full results are published below — cannabinoid content, heavy metals, residual solvents and pesticides — exactly as the lab reported them.

One base distillate is used across all six flavours. The laboratory report on this page covers that base oil. Flavour comes from terpenes blended into it after distillation — these were not part of the analysis and are described below by profile, not by measurement.

Strains

  • Hybrid

    Runtz

Zkittlez crossed with Gelato. Sweet tropical fruit over a creamy, confectionery base — the flavour the name is borrowed from.

Commonly described as euphoric and relaxed.

  • Hybrid

    Peach Rings

Ripe stone fruit with a sharp sour-sweet edge, finishing on soft candied sugar.

Commonly described as bright and uplifting.

  • Indica-dominant hybrid

    Watermelon OG

Fresh melon and cucumber-cool sweetness sitting on a dry, earthy OG backbone.

Commonly described as calm and settling.

  • Hybrid

    Lime Sorbet

Bright lime zest cut with a smooth creamy body. Sharp on the front, rounded through the finish.

Commonly described as balanced — lifting first, then softening.

  • Sativa (landrace)

    Durban Poison

A landrace sativa from the KwaZulu-Natal coast and the only South African native in the range. Sweet aniseed and licorice over dry pine and warm spice.

Commonly described as clear-headed and energetic.

  • Indica-dominant hybrid

    Cherry Pie

Granddaddy Purple crossed with Durban Poison. Dark sweet cherry and berry with a tart edge, grounded by damp earth.

Commonly described as relaxed but alert.

Strain type and character describe the strain each flavour is named after. All six cartridges share the same base distillate; terpenes were not part of the laboratory analysis.

Cartridges are available in 0.5 ml and 1 ml. Both use the same base distillate covered by the report below.

Category 02

Resin

This resin is hydrocarbon-extracted, then purged under heat and vacuum to drive the solvent back out.

How clean that purge actually was is what these numbers show.

Every solvent we screen for is listed below — including anything still present.

    Jet Fuel

Also known as G6. Aspen OG crossed with High Country Diesel, drawing on SFV OG Kush and East Coast Sour Diesel. Pungent diesel on the nose, cut with sharp citrus peel and finishing dry and resinous. The most assertive aroma in the Northdrop range.

Commonly described as energetic, settling gradually.

How we test

Samples of both products were submitted to Ecogreen Analytics (Pty) Ltd in Somerset West, an independent laboratory holding SAHPRA Testing Laboratory Licence 0000001451.-.1. A SAHPRA licence means the laboratory is authorised by the South African Health Products Regulatory Authority to test regulated health products, and that its methods, equipment and record-keeping are subject to inspection. It does not mean the product itself is registered or approved by SAHPRA.

Cannabinoids

Measures the potency of the sample: how much THC, CBD, CBG, CBN and their acid forms it contains, as a percentage of total mass. Total THC and Total CBD are calculated figures that account for acid forms converting when heated.

Heavy metals

Screens for arsenic, cadmium, lead and mercury, which accumulate in cannabis from soil, water and fertiliser. This is the only panel on the report with printed acceptance criteria, shown alongside each reading.

Residual solvents

Detects solvent left behind by extraction, by headspace gas chromatography–mass spectrometry. There is no printed limit column on the report, so every result is stated against the laboratory's limit of quantification of 1.00 ppm.

Pesticides

Screens 45 agricultural chemicals down to 0.03 mg/kg. As with solvents, the report carries no limit column, so results are stated against that limit of quantification.

What was not tested

The report covers four panels only. The following were not part of this analysis, and nothing on this page should be read as a result for them:

  • Terpenes
  • Mycotoxins
  • Microbials
  • Moisture
  • Total ash
  • Foreign matter
  • Appearance & identification

Values are reproduced from the certificates of analysis without filtering or rounding. Where a figure is high, it is shown at full value.

Reference

California reference

These reports were produced to a South African framework by a SAHPRA-licensed laboratory. California's Department of Cannabis Control publishes action levels for inhalable cannabis products that are widely used as an international reference point.

Where an analyte appears in both, the reading and the Californian action level are shown together below. 41 analytes can be compared this way.

This is an analyte-by-analyte reference, not a compliance assessment. California's framework covers 66 pesticides; these reports cover 24 of them. Ethylene oxide was not screened, and five Category I solvents are reported at a limit equal to California's action level, so no margin can be shown for those. Cyclohexane, detected in the resin, has no Californian counterpart. No conclusion about Californian compliance can be drawn from what follows.

Pesticides

24 of the 45 pesticides screened also appear in California's framework — 10 in Category I and 14 in Category II. All 24 returned below the laboratory's reporting limit of 0.03 µg/g on both products.

California requires Category I pesticides to be non-detected at a reporting limit of 0.10 µg/g or lower. This laboratory reports at 0.03 µg/g, below that threshold.
